Wednesday Wedding - 2014 Highlights
We have the privelege of working many unique, gorgeous weddings all over California with Das Bus. We want to start sharing some of these beautiful experiences in a new blog series titled, "Wednesday Wedding". Quite an original title we know, but there's actually many relevant layers involving the etymology of the word "Wednesday".
"Wednesday" is derived from the Latin phrase "dies Mercurii" or "day of Mercury", referring to the Germanic God Woden who was interpreted as "Germanic Mercury" in the Roman Era. This consequently evolved into being known as "Wodan's Day", and over time became "Wednesday" in English. In German, Wednesday is "Mittwoch" (literally, "mid-week") and thus represents the meeting point- the median - between the beginning and end of the week.
What better day to feature the meeting point between two humans (not to mention one related to a GERMANIC God!)? A symbolic median in the lives of many couples, who, though their lives may not change drastically after getting married, have a singular marker which separates the before and after. A ceremony of symbolic commitment as two separate individuals ask to be recognized as something new and unified. It's something quite amazing and wonderful, right!
Below are some highlights of the beautiful unions we witnessed in 2014. Please note that the Das Bus photo booth aesthetic has evolved since last year, most notably our new interior, our hand-made neon Photos sign, and some prop trunk evolutions. Check out our Instagram to see the latest looks and how we were featured in some amazing vintage weddings, rustic weddings, farm weddings, traditional and non-traditional weddings, and everything in-between!
Stay tuned for next week's Wednesday Wedding with some of our more recent weddings from this year!
